The honest answer is that website cost depends almost entirely on what you are building, who you are building it with, and what you expect it to do for your business. Here is a breakdown of what the market looks like in 2025.

Template websites: $3,000 to $10,000

At the lower end of the market, you will find template-based websites built on platforms like Squarespace, Wix, or off-the-shelf WordPress themes. A freelancer or small studio will take a pre-built template, customize the colors and copy, and hand it over. For a very early-stage business or a simple informational site, this can get the job done.


The tradeoff is real though. Template sites are built to serve everyone, which means they are optimized for no one. They load slower, they look similar to thousands of other sites, and they hit a ceiling quickly when you need custom functionality, integrations, or a design that actually reflects your brand.

Semi-custom websites: $10,000 to $30,000
