BOWEN Hosts Ellevate Long Island's First 'YoPro' Networking Event
On July 10th, 2019, BOWEN and Ellevate's Long Island Chapter hosted their first "YoPro" event, "Toast to the Summer," featuring yoga, wine, and networking. Organized by leaders from Ellevate LI and Lance-AR, and led by Here&Now's Michelle Cavanagh, the event drew nearly 30 professional women in a contemporary setting.
In the summer of 2019, Ellevate's LI chapter began a groundbreaking series of events specially designed for young professional women, aiming to transform the typical networking landscape right in their own backyard. These events were crafted to provide young women in Long Island with a platform to forge genuine connections, moving away from the traditional networking approaches that often feel intimidating or impersonal. The goal was to dismantle the barriers that can deter young women, such as the pressure to "own a room" and the challenge of finding commonality within diverse groups.
Natalie Bowen, who has been one of the Ellevate Long Island Chapter's leaders since 2019, was entrusted with the responsibility of planning and directing all future 'YoPro' events. Her ongoing commitment has been instrumental in sustaining and nurturing this vibrant community, ensuring that each event is a welcoming and empowering space for young professional women.
